Time To Renew and Refresh

The hectic pace and the sensory assault that come with the festive season leaves good memories of a year well spent; but nothing charges you up again like a nice spot of self-pampering. A spa treat sounds heavenly, but when distance and time doesn’t allow a quick getaway, a DIY home spa will do the trick!

An extra-special spa experience right in your home doesn’t need extensive planning – all you need is a tub to soak in and a door that promises privacy and heavenly cocooning.

Creating Your Home Spa

Take The Time

A good 30 minutes to an hour just to yourself is all you need to experience the perfect home spa. Make sure you block out this time in your diary or PDA just as you will an external appointment. If necessary, make all the necessary childcare arrangements or time off from work to allow yourself this quiet window. Then, turn off the phones and settle down to relax.

Bath Treats

Whether you prefer the fun sensation of a youthful bubble bath, the moisturizing oil or essence soak, or a cleansing salt scrub bath, choose the most suitable texture for your skin and body. Then turn on the faucet and fill ‘er up!

Music Soothes

Invite a music source into your bathroom for your in-bath time. It doesn’t need to be the cliché whale songs, just choose any tracks that will soothe your spirit while you sink deeper into the bath.

A Light Affair

To further enhance the space that will be your retreat for the next half hour or so, light botanical or soy wax candles with a scent that will please your senses, giving you calm and serenity while you take in your soak. Choose environmentally-friendly candles that do not release toxic soot or fumes. As an alternative, use burner oils.

Details Before And After

A spa session’s no good if you are fretting at the before and worrying about the after periods. For this, de-clutter your bath space and prepare the fluffiest clean towels that will enhance the experience. After your rinse and towel off, sit, breathe and recover – and quite magically, your senses are sharp and focused again.
